Cadogan is an independent contemporary art gallery with spaces in London and Milan. For over forty years, our mission has been to represent, support, and curate the work of a diverse roster of emerging and established artists. We care deeply about longevity, developing the careers of our artists and the journey of our collectors. In 1980, we opened the doors to our first gallery in South Kensington, London. In 2023, we added a new international perspective to our distinctive exhibitions program by opening a gallery in Milan and our flagship gallery space on Harriet Street in Belgravia, London, in 2024.

CURATORIAL VISION

Cadogan Gallery presents a body of paintings by Richard Zinon developed in dialogue with the landscape surrounding José Ignacio. Zinon builds his surfaces slowly, accumulating layers that produce a patina reminiscent of aged paper or stone. Against these atmospheric grounds, calligraphic gestures are executed rapidly and intuitively, creating a tension between duration and immediacy. The landscape enters the work indirectly, through light, atmosphere, rhythm, and the experience of working in Uruguay rather than through representation. The presentation foregrounds the relationship between Zinon’s meditative process and the decisive physical gesture that completes each painting.

BIO

Richard Zinon (b. 1985, Manchester, United Kingdom) is a British painter whose abstract practice centers on gesture, materiality, and the physical act of painting. Working with a restricted palette, he builds layered surfaces punctuated by broad, calligraphic marks that explore light, depth, and movement. Zinon avoids preparatory sketches, allowing intuition and physical immediacy to guide the final gestures of each composition. He studies in Florence at the Angel Academy of Art and the Accademia di Belle Arti and lives and works between Italy and the United Kingdom.
